As aWarhammerfan, Ive never been happier for a game to succeed thanSpace Marine 2.
What more could I ask for?
Just last week Space Marine 2surpassed the 4.5 million player mark, a runaway success.
So where did it all go wrong?
Where Did Space Marine 2 Go Wrong?
Space Marine 2 has gone from strength to strength to fatal weakness.
This is not it.
You dont suddenly reduce a weapons damage by 70 percent.
Such sweeping changes suggest panic or inexperience with live-service games.
- Developer Saber Interactive needs to take a deep breath and approach things with more care in future.
Zoanthropes, Zoanthropes Everywhere
Zoanthropes were always the worst enemy in Space Marine 2.
However, theyre even worse in PvE.
In the campaign, Titus is nearly always equipped with a ranged weapon.
Thats not always the case in PvE.
At least Ill be able to swing a Thunder Hammer at aHierophant’s ankles when it arrives.
Heres where Zoanthropes get really annoying.
As a close combat character, you have no way of touching a flying monster.
Theres also no way to parry ranged attacks, making you more vulnerable to damage from these creatures.
That would be an even more pressing issue if parrying wasnt broken in this update, too.
On top of Zoanthropes already being annoying, the latest update seems to spawn themall the time.
Put simply, fighting against Zoanthropes feels terrible, and is ruining players fun.
Again referencing the live-service game I know so well, Apex Legends has done this in the past.
Remember when Seer launched?
The Charge Rifle in Season 3?
Whatever updates the new patch pushed need to be pulled.
For what its worth, I dont think the playersneedcompensation.
Players love free stuff.
I love free stuff.
If Saber follows that up with slower paced, better thought out updates, then players will stay happy.
And Zoanthropes need to get in the sea.
Secret Level is shaping up to be a real treat.
