What this means is that there is still a possibility for a fourthWitchergame (albeit a faint one).
After all, the game world is brimming with fascinating lore begging to be explored.
Now, a bigger consecutive question would be: who’s going to explore the rest of the lore?
Would it be our famed albino antiheroGeralt of Rivia?
Or maybe his adoptive daughter Ciri who is just as popular as he is?
Let’s weigh down both options, shall we?
Two swords, a bit of handy magic, and a ton of potions.
With that said, Ciri’s horizons look more exciting than Geralt’s as far asThe Witcher 4goes.
By that, we mean Geralt can either be a jack-of-all-trades and master of something.
Want him to be a mage?
Play a Sign-focused build; a swordsman?
Ignore everything else and just hack away and improve his fighting skills.
With Ciri, it’s hard to imagine something that versatile.
She’s no blank slate like Geralt as far as combat and gameplay capabilities go.
That means she has a lot of affairs that the third game has yet to feature or address.
Apparently, Ciri also traveled to other worlds or dimensions to hide from the Wild Hunt.
Being a witcher makes him just as bad as the monsters he’s hunting in the eyes of humans.
This makes Geralt’s character arguably deeper compared to Ciri who’s a lot less conflicted compared to Geralt.
This means she has a better potential for adventures.
All in all, there’s still plenty of miles left for Ciri’s journey.
Additionally, Geralt will also have the added benefits of friends from all walks of life.
That ending is the one where Ciri becomes a witcher and stays with Geralt.
It’s a lot happier compared to the bitter-sweet Empress ending and certainly preferable to her being dead.
It’s hard to imagine Ciri being plagued with the same lifestyle since she’s technically only half-a-witcher.
For all her extradimensional powers, Ciri is still a human.
Heck, even Lambert might be a more fittingwitcherprotagonist than Ciri.
That’s a whole new level of witchering for anyone.
Also, such a design choice for gameplay and story could change the structure ofWitchergames.
It’s all thanks to Ciri’s Elder Blood.
For many fans of the franchise, Geralt is the franchise.
It’s his feats and exploits that made the game what they are.
Making Ciri the protagonist of the nextWitchergames would be like replacing Kratos with Atreus in futureGod of Wartitles.
For a nice compromise, the developers could still make either Geralt or Ciri as selectable playable characters.
