Special Blue Mutagens are helpful to magically inclined players inThe Witcher 3.
Each Special Blue Mutagen will provide a +5% to Sign Intensity.
They appear in Velen and Skellige with the most reliable being the Abandoned Sawmill quest.
Unless the player is desperate or ambitious these arent recommended creatures to farm for their Ancient Leshen Mutagen.
If the player does fight one it helps to have Relict Oil and Dimeritium Bombs.
Fire seems to be an effective tool when fighting these creatures.
Its also important to note that the player will never fight a lone Leshen.
It will always have a swarm of crows, wolves, and other creatures to fight alongside them.
8Basilisk Mutagen
Basilisks can drop the Basilisk Mutagen when defeated.
One can usually be found guarding a treasure on an island by the Lighthouse of Novigrad.
The quests Ciris Story: Out of the Shadows and Dowry will also feature these beasts.
Basilisks possess potent venom making it highly recommended to use Golden Oriole when battling them.
Grapeshot is also handy for knocking them out of the sky.
Draconid Oil for the weapons and using Aard signs are the way to go when fighting these beasts.
7Chort Mutagen
Chorts will drop Chort Mutagens when defeated.
They appear in Velen, Skellige, and Kaer Morhen.
They can be encountered in the Contract Mysterious Tracks and the quest Berengars Blade.
This can make them a viable source for unlimited Special Blue Mutagens.
Chorts are strong and incredibly fast.
Theyre go to attack is to charge at high speeds towards opponents.
6Cockatrice Mutagen
Cockatrices are a rare source of Special Blue Mutagens.
Cockatrices will respawn near Arette and one nonspawning version can be found by the lake near Fornhala.
The best method for farming this Mutagen is through theContract Shriekerwhich has a weaker named variant.
These winged beasts are very annoying to fight.
Grapeshot while theyre in the air will help.
5Earth Elemental Mutagen
Earth Elementals are a tough creature to obtain Special Blue Mutagens from.
They are found in Elven Ruins and one is guarding a treasure north of the House of Respite.
The quests The King is Dead -Long Live the King and The Witchers Forge features these brutes.
These constructs can take a surprisingly amount of damage making it very common for swords to break during combat.
Ultimately the player needs to be patient and swing away.
4Ekhidna Mutagen
Ekhidna are a tricky monster to farm for their Ekhidna Miutagens because theyre water based.
Meaning most of the time they wont drop anything in the water.
The key is to hunt Ekidhna on land like those west of Skellig by the Tower Outta Nowheres.
One will also show up during Here Comes the Groom Contract.
Once felled usingHybrid Oiland a combination of Igni and Aard signs will help put them down for good.
Ekhidna are fantastic to farm thanks to theabundance of lootthey drop, assuming theyre on land.
The best way to farm them is through theContract Swamp Thing.
Foglets can be really tricky or really easy encounters depending on the players timing and level.
A single Aard Sweep can insta-kill a Foglet if its visible.
Otherwise the player needs to use Signs or bombs to make them visible before going in for the kill.
2Forktail Mutagen
Forktails are yet another flying beast that can be hunted for Forktail Special Blue Mutagens.
They can be found flying in Velen, Skellige, and White Orchard.
Grapeshot as always is great for dropping a winged creature to the ground.
Golden Oriole will counteract the worst of the Forktails poison.
Draconid Oil gives weapons more punch and Aard helps immensely.
These are also a great source of Dragon Scales.
1Leshen Mutagen
Leshens are a source of the Leshen Mutagen.
While not as dangerous as Ancient Leshens they still pose a threat to the player.
A Leshen can be found northwest of the Aeramas Abandoned Manor.
The stronger Kernun can be found during the Contract Lord of the Wood.
The same tactics for fighting Ancient Leshens apply here.
Relict Oil to strengthen weapons and Dimeritium Bombs to apply burn.
Igni signs help a lot.
