So, I decidedafter hearing so much about it from colleaguesto finally go back and play theAdventuregames.
Id heard time and time again that Adventure 2 was Sonics magnum opus.
But it hasnt aged well.
Hell, I dont even know if it was considered good at the time.
In Adventure 2, you jump from Sonic/Shadow to Knuckles/Rouge to Tails/Eggman.
An ancient evil lurking within the Master Emerald has been unleashed from its slumber by the devious Dr. Eggman and is on the verge of becoming the ultimate monster using the 7 Chaos Emeralds. Only Sonic and his friends are heroic enough to put a stop to Dr. Eggman and his evil minions. The speedster levels are incredible, and easily some of the best 3D platforming out there.
But that only makes up a third of the game.
Many boss fights are just the equivalent character from the opposite story, i.e.
On the other hand, Adventure focuses solely on Sonic, before moving on to the other characters stories.
Theres an overworld that you explore between levels, and its here where you gradually uncover new characters.
The flow is never disrupted.
Speaking of the overworld, its a much better connective tissue for the story.
Sidenote, the casino is the best 3D Sonic level.
Turning him into a pinball was a stroke of genius.

Its easy to see why Adventure 2 holds such a grip on Sonic fans.
So, its aged a helluva lot better, and easily stands tall as the peak of 3D Sonic.
The only thing its missing is Shadow.

Then compete against other Chao in a battle for ultimate Chao supremacy.
