Romancing Saga 2: Revenge of the Sevenis a pretty unique experience among RPGs.
It is mechanically rich, but alongside that gameplay depth, there is a considerable element of mystery.
This is a game that doesn’t like to lay things out for you.
Thankfully, this guide is happy to fill in the blanks for you.
How many can you pass?
Run toward an enemy and you will garner their attention.
Do all of this while sprinting, of course.
This is the best way to get past enemies who are blocking narrow passages.
Additionally, you’re able to use the environment to your advantage.
Non-flying enemies won’t pursue you up ladders or climbable structures.
Use that to your advantage and bee-line it to a climbable structure to get away from grounded enemies.
HP Is Cheap, BP Is Precious
The dynamic in battle is a touch unusual.
However, BP, which powers all your abilities, is far less common.
Take advantage of United Attacks, as they don’t cost BP, and hit extra hard.
Also, when you are starting to fill up on techniques, don’t always dump the cheapest ones.
Sometimes the hardest-hitting ability will cost twice as much as another ability that doesalmostas much damage.
You Will Fail Certain Quests If Time Shifts Forward
This is a big one… you might lose access to some key classes that way.
How will you know which quests need to be completed in one go?
Well, generally speaking, any quest that deals with clearing a specific dungeon is safe.
Similarly, quests that target the seven heroes aren’t ever in jeopardy.
Death Is Permanent, But It Isn’t Typically A Big Deal
Every character has LP.
If a character loses all their LP, they will die.
There is no Phoenix Down that will be able to resurrect them.
There is no going to the local church to have them raised from the grave.
They are permanently dead.
However, if your emperor dies, their abilities will be passed down.
So, death isn’t completely without consequences.
When you liberate these regionsyou will be rewarded handsomely.
Similarly, Mr. S is hiding in nearly every town and every dungeon.
You will be able to find him a total of 50 times.
You will be rewarded handsomely for tracking him down.
Mr. S is often found near bodies of water, or food.
So, those are the two best places to look.
This isn’t a hard rule or anything, just a tendency.
Don’t Fight Every Enemy You Encounter
I cannot stress this enough.
At least at the beginning of the game, that is.
This is especially true if you play the game on the classic difficulty setting.
Every fight you engage in will increase the amount of battles you have fought.
As you fight more battles, monsters will gradually increase their strength.
I’d recommend trying to avoid most fights, but going after the different treasures you’ll see.
This will inevitably lead to you running into monsters here and there.
When youdofight monsters, give a shot to target the stronger ones.
That’s the worst-case scenario.
Speaking of Technique Points, these are split evenly depending on what weapon-punch in the abilities you used were.
However, guarding will also take a share of points, though these points seemingly go nowhere.
So, if you could help it, avoid guarding.
Use techniques like the parry or counter instead.

Hell, sometimes you’ll just enter into battle with a formation that is poorly suited for a boss.
No need to start everything over as a new emperor.
The game provides you with a save point before bosses for a reason.
Make use of those saves!
