Who Is Caleb?
Caleb is the MC’slong-time childhood friend.
Fourteen years ago, after theChronorift Catastrophe of 2034, Caleb and the MC wereboth orphanedthrough as-of-yet-unknown circumstances.
At this point, Grandma (or Gran, as Caleb calls her),takes in both children.
Caleb is thesecond tallestof the love interests atsix feet two inches(or about 188 cm) tall.
He hasdark brown hair and lightvioleteyes.
His Evol is Gravity Manipulation.
‘While not a scientific approach, this methodmay help identify future love interestsin-game before they are officially announced.
Caleb is available as a love interest and companion character after completingEpisode Three of Vanishing Skyward.
Caleb, like the MC, ischildhood friends with Dr. Zayne.
He even suggests inviting him over to a family dinner.
He is seen wearing this necklace when he is introduced inChapter Fourof the main storyline.
Pathless Realm takes place duringCaleb’s DAA exams.
For his final Flight Exam, Caleb was thefirst studentin his class sentinto the Deepspace Tunnel.
Set adriftin the dark, unexplored expanse of the Deepspace Tunnel, Caleb is unable to return home.
One week later,Caleb crash landson a floating island near Skyhaven, bloodied andseverely injured.
He’s taken to the hospital and, after one month, makes amiraculous full recovery.
It’s unclear if the unrecognized electromagnetic radiationaffected his recovery in any way.
Once he is discharged from the hospital, Caleb returns home early, intending to surprise the MC.
Despite being glad to have survived,Caleb suffers from dissociative amnesia and recurrent nightmares.
He was put on prescriptionpainkillers and sedatives.
It is implied that Caleb stopped taking these medications as there was a risk of dependency.
Caleb’s dreams and amnesiaworsenedafter returning home.
This bang out of amnesia issometimes the result of a traumatic experience.
Since Caleb completed his final flight assessment, hedid not officially graduatefrom the Academy.
He was listed as asecondary candidatewho would graduate upon retaking and passing his final flight exam.
Rather than take his flight exam a second time,Caleb submitted a transfer requestto another organization.
Though not explicitly stated, it is assumed that hetransferred to the Farspace Fleet.
He no longer believed that being a Deepspace Pilot was his true path.
No one knowswhat Caleb really experienced in the Deepspace Tunnel.
He then surprises her byshowing up a day earlyfor a family dinner with their Gran.
Sensing something may be wrong,Caleb goes with her.
When the pair return home,Caleb enters the housewhile the MC waits outside.

He uses his Evol totake the necklacefrom the MC’s hands in a flashback.
Homecoming Wings
Caleb makes his shocking return in Homecoming Wings, his main story branch.
Caleb may havealready joined the Fleetbefore returning in Homecoming Wings, as suggested by his Anecdote story.
Now, he’s avolatile, moody, ruthless Colonelwho has the whole Fleet under his control.
It isn’t until the end of Homecoming Wings that this truth is revealed.
Caleb was saved by a man namedProfessor Lucius.
The Professor is a scientist who has beenmodifying members of the Farspace Fleetand experimenting on humans.
His experiments resulted in theunintended transformationof humans into power-thirstyWanderers.
Caleb’spersonalityhas made acomplete 180since the MC last saw him.
The Toring Chip is amind-alteringdevice that cansuppress, override, and erasewhole parts of a person’smemories and personality.
It is also sometimes referred to as the’Mind-Control’ chip.
The MC assumes that Caleb’s personality change is theresult of a Toring Chip.
The result was that thebones and musclesin Caleb’s right arm were replaced withcold, unfeeling machinery.
Somehow, Caleb’s arm gives the impression of normal to others.
It’s unclear if this is due toillusion technologyor if his arm iscovered in synthetic skin.
Most people who have a Toring Chiplose all or some of their memoriesand personalities.
He mourns hisinability to feel the MCwith that arm.
The Myth takes placemonthsafter the events of Homecoming Wings.
In the Myth, the MC is dispatched to Skyhaven tooversee the medical evaluationsof new Fleet members.
The MC is tasked with assessing the risk of each soldierbecoming a Wandereror being affected byProtocore Syndrome.
The MC must inspect each one before undergoing aseparate Fleet-mandated medical exam.
Later, the MCsteals an implantation devicefrom Caleb’s office.
The MCconfronts Caleband realizes that all the soldiers whorefused the Chipwere sent away and’disposed of.
Eventually,Caleb comes to his sensesand realizes that the MC has injected a Chip into her arm.
Frantic, Caleb orders asurgical procedureto remove the Toring Chip from her body before it can do irreversible damage.
This may be proof that despite Caleb’s insistence, the Toring Chip fundamentallychanges a person’s personality.
However, while theChip still controls his bionic arm, it no longer has access to Caleb’s memories.
Caleb hassealed part of his brainfrom the Chip’s influence.
The very last lines of the Myth suggest thatsuch a way exists, but not what it is.
Shortly after joining the Fleet, Caleb waspromoted to Colonel, replacing an already well-respected officer.
However, after the explosion that killed his Gran,Caleb’s personality took a turn.
His protective nature became more obsessive and possessive than before, making him the game’sfirst yandere love interest.
Caleb has aneasy-going rapportwith the MC after years of living together.
Caleb dislikes cilantro but loves apples and apple-flavored foods like apple syrup and soda.
Caleb’s other hobbies include piloting aircraft and fixing machinery.
