What Is Lemuria?
Lemuria is avast ancient civilizationbeneath the waves.
Its inhabitants, Lemurians, arenear-immortal merpeoplewith magical abilities.
Lemurians are a people whovalue love and freedomabove all else.
Lemuriansdo not hunger for warand are not a greedy race.
For a Lemurian, being bound is one of thegreatest acts of trustthey can complete.
In the current timeline,Lemuria no longer exists.
What Is The Tome Of The Sea God?
With each incarnationof the Sea God, a new prophecy is written in the Tome of the Sea God.
The sea god selects hismost devout followerfrom his human worshippers and grants them a wish.
In return, the Sea God’s followersprepare a ‘gift’for him.
The MC ischosen as a sacrificefor the sea god on a voyage through a stormy sea.
As the storm worsens,the crew throws her overboardto quell the sea.
She istaken by Rafayel, the God of the Sea.
Rafayel decides to tease her when she asks him for his help.
Hezaps her with firefrom his fingers and laughs.
The MC kisses Rafayeland steals the ability to breathe beneath the waves for herself.
He agrees to save her if shedevotes her entire beingto following him.
The flame is called theSun Below The Waves.
During Rafayels coming of age ceremony the flame which has been growing weaker for ages must be reignited.
Lemurians can be bound to other people.
However, when a Lemuraian is bound to someone,they cannot deny their wishes.
That would make the MC Rafayel’s ‘master.’
Rafayel in true Rafayel fashion decides to be dramatic and naps on the floor of the temple.
Meanwhile, a little blue fish appears, and theMC asks it to escort her outof the ocean.
The fish with either a very poor memory or direction ends up leading her in circles.
By the time she actually makes it to freedom beyond the citys walls, Rafayel reappears.
Thefish was actually part of his magicand had been taking her to explore Lemuria.
He had been aware of her journeythe whole time.
He explains thatthe fish had been a testto see if she, a human, actually valued her oaths.
Find one who will kiss you, even if you do not give them the world.
Love a soul that is like your own, that which complements you.
Love and death are the most important things in a life.
Regardless, he continues to show her around the city and eventually, the Temple.
Rafayel gets annoyed because he believes she is trying to leave him again.
Rafayel hesitates to give her an answer and the Sun Below the Waves sets, putting him to sleep.
Irritated by his disinterest, but not wanting to leave him, the MC sleeps against his shoulder.
Despite disliking being touched, Rafayel not only allows the closeness, butpulls her even closeragainst his side.
The next day, Rafayeltakes the MC to the beach.
However, when she came of age, she learned she was really beingraised as a sacrifice.
This seems to anger Rafayel.
Love for them is always a choice.
He explains thatif he was to disobey hereven once, theycould not be bound.
They come upon a seaside cliff andRafayel kicks the MC over.
Finally, he shares with her thathe, too, was raised in a cageof sorts.
Bothneeded each otherto do so.
The story skips tomonths lateron the night before the ceremony where Rafayel and the MC are to be bound.
Once the fire is re-lit, the ceremony will be over.
His first blessing, he gives to the MC, wanting it to be hers alone.
He offers her amagical fish,an emissary of the sea.
Finally, he asks her if she will be his follower.
She replies that shedesires something irreplaceable in returnand Rafayel offers his heart.
I will cut out your heart with a dagger honed, my darling.
And in Love’s name, your heart will become my faith.
Your body will be washed Clean, shine like a pearl.
I will care for your heart.
Till we meet again.
And you reclaim it for yourself.
He tells her she can see the ocean in thebones of an ancient cityin the sand.
When she turns to him,he cuts out her heart.
When she wakes, the MC asks Algie about the ceremony, only to be met witheven more uncertainty.
This moment illustrates hisisolation and desire for worthy companionship.
The pair stride into the temple alone andexchange their vowsto one another.
Lemuria is plunged into adeep and terrible darkness,frightening its inhabitants.
Hours later, Rafayel returns from the templealone, his beloved nowhere to be seen.
TheSun Below the Wavesis but an ember in Rafayel’s hands.
The MC wasnever seen again.
While the Myth ends here, it’s unclear what truly happened that day.
