As many fans of the series have noticed, Dever is significantly smaller than the games version of Abby.
Its hard to tell exactly how Devers character is built.
Narratively, thematically, and visually, Abby’s muscles matter.
Dever was chosen because shesan excellent actorwho connects well with the existing cast, and not for her build.
Im not entirely convinced by this argument.
Instead,Dever is so similar to Ellie she was a longtime fancast.
Hollywood isnt exactly filled with muscle-bound thespians.
Its important to remember that HBOs The Last Of Us is an adaptation, not a direct live-action translation.
Expect golf clubs, Jeffrey Wright, and plenty of bloodshed.
As an adaptation, it adds, subtracts, and subverts our expectations.
