At the same time, Welfin is found and questioned by Meruem.
Everything clicks for Meruem, and he remembers who he is.
He walks off by forgiving Welfin and becoming his true self.
The best thing about this episode is the culmination of both Meruem and Welfin’s development.
The scene where Meruem remembers Komugi is beautiful.
Not just that, Meruem forgiving Welfin and hoping the best for him is both shocking and greatly emotional.
The episode defines what the Chimera Ant arc was about and showcases it beautifully.
The battle starts with Kurapika showing his new abilities.
Eventually, Uvogin is captured and is unable to break Kurapika’s chains.
Uvogin is then beaten down, essentially tortured for information.
However, he refuses to sell thePhantom Troupeout, leading to Kurapika delivering the final blow.
From start to finish, episode 47 is a masterpiece.
No one ever expected Kurapika to be able to fight someone as strong as Uvogin.
Kurapika not only fought him but completely destroyed Uvogin.
It’s a fight that shows Kurapika going down a very dark path.
However, Pitou is in a state of vulnerability because she’s healing Komugi.
Because of this, Gon is shocked and unable to let all of his rage out.
Gon even disregards Komugi’s life and uses her as a hostage against Pitou.
This episode showcases Gon’s unhinged character.
As Netero is defeated, he tells the King his name for the first time.
As soon as Netero’s heart stops beating, a huge bomb goes off and engulfs the entire area.

Of course, the fight is great.
But what sets this episode apart is the ending.
However, none of this would have nearly the same impact without Togashi developing Meruem the way he did.
Gon decides to abandon everything and become a monster that can defeat Pitou.
Gon mercilessly beats her down until her last breath.
You could make a two-hour-long video dissecting this episode, and it still wouldn’t do the episode justice.
Not to mention the incredible soundtrack and animation that brought Episode 131 to life.
Regardless, this episode is a masterclass in storytelling.
Instead of trying to force the information out of her, Meruem nearly bows down to Palm.
Eventually, he finds Komugi and asks to play Gungi with her.
They both pass away while playing Gungi.
As expected, the best episode of Hunter x Hunter also comes from itsbest arc.
The episode is a combination of beautiful writing and an incredible soundtrack.
