Without the right ability or piece of equipment, you wont be able to make it very far.
In Hollow Knight, every area of Hallownest is a visual delight and different from the last.
How well do they hold up in comparison with each other?
There are several differentabilities in Hollow Knight.

This item gives you one of the very first abilities in the whole game.
To find it,you must reach Greenpath.
When you finally catch up to her, shell insult you before beginning a boss fight.
Once youve defeated her, shell fly off in a huff.
This battle can be a little toughasshe has some very quick attacks.
Shes far from the most difficult fight in the game, but she can be challenging.
Mantis Claw
Wall Jumping and Sliding
TheMantis Villageis an area located within theFungal Wastesregion.
When you reach the Fungal Wastes,travel down until you start to encounter the Mantises.
Hit it and a wall above you will open up.
Go back, and youll be able to make your way up by jumping on a ledge.
Make your way herewhile avoiding or fighting the Mantises, and youll see shelves with little hooks on them.
In front of them will be theMantis Claw.
This area is initially very dark and hard to navigate.
Then, head east from theForgotten Crossroadsand you should wind up at the location marked above.
At the end will bea deactivated Crystal Golem.
Remove its Crystal Heart, and now you could zip across the gaps of Hallownest.

When you beat him,head to the next area and youll obtain the Monarch Wings.
Ismas Tear
Swim in Acid
To gainIsmas Tear, you oughta have gained access toThe Royal Waterways.
Make your way through this area, and youll make it to aboss battle with the Dung Defender.
Defeat him, and there will bea switch to the right for you to hit.
Do so, and thenhead to the marked location on the map above.
Use the Crystal Heart to get across this gapand reach Ismas Grove.
Fly across the pools of acid ahead and deal with the Sentry enemies who roam around.
Head through this area, and youll reach Ismas Tear, which is hanging from some kind of branch.
it’s possible for you to even take on optional bosses by traveling into dreams.
To get the Dream Nail, you gotta get to theResting Grounds.
There are a few different ways to get here, but the easiest way is to get theTram Pass.
It can be found in an abandoned train car in theFailed Tramway region of Deepnest.
After you find that,head to the location in the Forgotten Crossroads marked on the map above.
Gathering Essence will earn you rewards from The Seer.
Once youve gathered 900 Essence, return to The Seer, and youll gain an ability called theDreamgate.
This is Hollow Knights form of fast travel.

First, you’re gonna wanna get theKings Brand.
After you defeat her, youll reach theCast-Off Shelland can pick up the Kings Brand.
Now head on down to theAncient Basin to the spot marked below.
The seal here will open once you present the Kings Brand.
Head up via the platforms above, and youll reach a lighthouse.
Turn it on to get rid of the Void Tendrils in your way.
Now you could use theCrystal Heart to fly across the seaand reach the other side.
This will let you get past those Shade Gates and evendash through enemy attacks.
The masks of The Dreamers will crack the seal inside, allowing you to head in.
This is where you go to initiate the final boss fight of the game.
When you go into your inventory screen,itll now tell you how much of the game youve completed.
