One quest that you might eventually complete is Revive the Oasis.
This is a fairly straightforward quest that greatly changes the landscape of Gemstone Mountain.
Additionally, this quest is required to complete a lot of later content.

This is on a bridge at thetop end of the valley-like area where Pompompurin’s boat is.
The route to the source of water is simple.
Doing so will put you in a new area with an underwater lake.
Head slightly south on the path and you will come across Chococat,who explains what he is doing.
The goal here is to break the boulder that is blocking the flow of water.
How To Make The Pickaxe
To make the pickaxe, head back to a Crafting Station.
At this point, your goal is tobreak all boulders that block the path for the water.
In total, there are four boulders that you’ll need to break.
To get them all, follow the dry riverbed and break any boulder that blocks an entrance.
