Over 10 minutes of gameplay and an interview for the upcoming game, Funko Fusion.
Sadly, that’s where the fun ends.
Levels that could take 15 minutes tops will take you double that because of the poorly communicated player expectations.
There’s no real indication of what to do next in any given mission.
Several times, there are character and NPC indications that just don’t make sense.
The visual cues used for solving puzzles are inconsistent and unclear, especially when interacting with NPCs.
This caused several instances of just trying things to see what works.
Going into the next level, another NPC with a sad face won’t work with Allison.
Similar visual cues for different things in the same world don’t help with understanding what to do next.
Even without these interactions, there’s really no indication of what to do next most of the time.
It leads to several frustrating minutes of trying everything until something works.
Several levels will force you to play specifically as certain characters, leaving most of them underutilized.
The same goes for boss battles.
Most of them are rote; if you’ve done one, you’ve essentially done them all.
There’s no real strategy, but it’s at least consistent.
Funko Fusion is a four-player action-adventure game featuring Funko Pop! forms of iconic TV show and movie characters. There are dozens of playable characters available, with each boasting their own unique personalities and abilities inspired by the NBCUniversal shows and movies from which they originated.
At least the music is great… when it works.
Get Ready For Nonstop Enemies
Even worse is the onslaught of enemies.
The game trades strategy and mechanics for enemies that never stop coming.
The hardest thing is just surviving the unnecessary assault.
It’s frustrating and more disappointing than it is challenging.
During my playthrough, bosses got stuck in the ground, so I couldn’t hit them.
Environmental actions didn’t react as intended, so I couldn’t kill a separate boss.
An item needed to progress didnt appear until I restarted the level.
Character skills and abilities didn’t work until a separate level was restarted.
A Broken Product Not Worth Your Time… At Least Not Yet?
There’s just too much to fix to make Funko Fusion worth your time.
