An image of a character that any FF11 player would immediately recognise: the Shadow Lord.

This new raid series will be added with the launch of the Dawntrail expansion this summer.

FF11 was the first real MMO that captivated my attention, time, and heart.

My friends were all jumping ship as well, so it felt like the proper time to say goodbye.

Last year, while reminiscing about the good old days, I decided to reinstall FF11.

I knew it wouldnt be the same as when I played before, but it felt desolate.

Searching for all players on the server yielded less than 1,000 players as a result.

Back in the day, thered be 5,000+ people online at any given time.

To dampen my enthusiasm further, I was struggling to remember everything.

Where were the teleport NPCs?

How do I get access to some of my inventory again?

Where was all my gear?

I lasted less than a day and never fully figured out where all my gearset stuff was.

My attempt to relive my glory days, even for the smallest of moments, was a failure.

But thats where the Echoes of Vana’diel raid series comes in.

Final Fantasy 9 remake

Ive learned from experience now that I cant recapture the magic and nostalgia of FF11 by returning to it.

It turns out some things never change.

I still bite the dust often, but at least in FF14, you dont delevel when it happens.

Live-Service Games

Final Fantasy 11 has changed a lot since I last played properly.
