Horrifiedis a series of board games that tasks players with teaming up to take down some of fiction’s most iconic monsters.
Each new version of the game has introduced fresh infamous foes for you to try and take down, and more monsters are coming your way later this year via what might be the most exciting and ambitious take on the series yet -Horrified: Dungeons & Dragons.
Board game stalwarts Ravensburger confirmed the news on Monday, revealing that this year’s edition of Horrified will involve a team-up with the RPG that started it all,Dungeons & Dragons.
While the finer details of what exactly this upcoming version of Horrified will entail won’t be revealed until closer to its release this summer, we do already know some of what to expect when we embark on our next Horrified adventure.
With Horrified’s first ever two-stage Monster, World of Monsters might be the best version yet
As per usual, this new version of Horrified will bring new monsters along with it, and as the name implies, those monsters will be ones those of you who play D&D will almost certainly be familiar with.
Four of them, to be exact, although Ravensburger and Wizards of the Coast have only revealed one of them so far.

That one revealed monster is the Beholder.
Perhaps the most iconic of all D&D’s monsters, partly because it was one of the original monsters included in the RPG back in 1974 and has been a mainstay in campaigns ever since.
The Beholder is featured in the only artwork for Horrified: Dungeons & Dragons revealed so far as part of what might be the game’s box art, featured above.
Dungeons & Dragons collab with Horrified is going to be about more than just replacing its usual monsters with those from D&D’s world.
While the core mechanics will remain the same, Ravensburger has confirmed there will be elements of D&D gameplay folded in too.
How exactly the two sides have come together to make that work isn’t entirely clear, but we do know thatthe game will come with a 20-sided diethat will be incorporated into the game’s rule set somehow.
The aim here is to bring the best of both Horrified and D&D’s worlds together under one roof in the hope that it will appeal to both sets of players.
A fifth Horrified adventure for fans of the hugely popular tabletop game to embark on and a fresh way to battle against some of D&D’s most iconic creatures, likely in well-known D&D locations, at the same time.Horrified: Dungeons & Dragons will be released this summer and cost $29.99, so not long to wait until it’s possible for you to embark on that new adventure with lots more details to come between now and then.
