That said, races do have mechanical differences that may get you to prefer one over another.
Some will get extra abilities, such as Darkvision or a Cantrip to cast.
Some races have Subraces, which are used to further customize a character.
If a race has Subraces, you must choose one.
Instead of race-specific stat bonuses, every race has the ability to choose its own stat bonuses.
This is different to how the game worked in Early Access.
They also gain resistance to their element.
