Perhaps the most exciting of these additions are the new spells available.
Nonetheless, some of them can be accessed by other spellcasting classes, too.
Let’s take a closer look.
5Calm Emotions
Calm emotions is a second level enchantment spell that requires concentration.
Once cast, this spell makes all humanoids in a chosen area immune to the frightened and charmed conditions.
Both of these conditions are quite debilitating to have applied as they greatly reduce a character’s combat abilities.
Calm emotions can be cast by both bards and clerics.
4Enthrall
Enthrall is also a second level enchantment spell, but it does not require concentration.
This spell incurs disadvantage on Perception checks to perceive other creatures if the target fails a Charisma saving throw.
It can be cast by both bards and warlocks.
The option to sneak past enemies is a quintessential choice of any Dungeons & Dragons-based adventure.
Enthrall looks to be one way to increase your odds of doing so.
3Phantasmal Force
Phantasmal Force is a second level illusion spell that requires concentration.
When cast, this spell fills the target’s mind with images of whatever hurt it last.
This spell can only be cast by bards.
The target takes 1d6 psychic damage at the start of each of its turns.
2Vicious Mockery
Vicious Mockeryis the newest cantrip added to Baldur’s Gate 3.
It’s only accessible by bards.
Vicious mockery deals 1d4 psychic damage and inflicts disadvantage on the target’s next attack roll.
Honestly, hats off to whoever wrote that last one.
It can only be cast by bards.
After all, frightened doesn’t really affectspellcasters classessince they are usually casting spells and not making attacks.
This is arguably the best spell of the bunch added.
Don’t be afraid to try it out and see for yourself.
