The initial promise of eliminating the need to choose between graphics and performance has not materialised.
But this is far from the revolutionary machine I was promised.
Stopping and staring might as well be a gameplay mechanic.
Most importantly, it feels real and authentic in spite of its silly story and over-the-top violence.
To my surprise, a lot of these sticks around on Pro once you switch to performance mode.
It felt nice to play, but to many that graphical trade-off wasnt worth it.
Square Enix knew it as well, confirming plans were in place to improve this mode ahead of release.
But even now, its imperfect.
Assassins Creed Shadows obviously looks worse in performance than its quality mode, but thats to be expected.
It presents an ideal way to play this game that more than justifies its enhanced support.
If anything, it feels like the best way to experience Shadows.
