Most video game stories revolve around the exploits of a single playable character.
However, to tell a deep and captivating narrative, you sometimes need more than one protagonist.
This allows the writers to provide multiple perspectives on whatever’s happening in the game.
The two characters don’t even need to interact too often.
An abundance of games have attempted this sort of storytelling over the years to varying degrees of success.

And even though they’re both involved in the same situation, they don’t directly interact.
They each have their own things going on that impact the battle for the Empty Lot.
Even though they’re on completely opposite sides of the conflict, they share some common enemies.

Most of them are members of the Forrester family, while the other is also closely associated.
They’re all operating in separate places, though.
You also get to play as Ciri at times.
It works to fill in the gaps in the story and show what happened to her.
Yet, in a classic sci-fi blunder, they made the robots too intelligent.
Thus, some actually begin to recognize when they’re being mistreated and abused.
This leads to a revolution where the androids begin to fight back.
Amid the conflict, you control three androids called Markus, Connor, and Kara.
Each of them has a different place in the human and machine war.
Markus is leading the revolution, while Connor is working for humans.
Kara, on the other hand, is just trying to survive and keep a little girl safe.
It can allend in several different ways, depending on your choices.
These crossover moments help fill in narrative gaps.
